On 20th July, Mike Jameson went to Good Hope Hospital to present the SCNs there with an Otto Ostomy model. The model comes equipped with various plug-in stomas, and SCNs say that it is a valuable teaching aid for training staff about how to care for ostomists. Funded partly by Birmingham IA and partly with monies from the estate of deceased Birmingham IA member Mary Cotterill, who set up the Ruth Astles Centre at Heartlands Hospital, four ostomy models have been now provided for Heartlands, Sandwell, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals.
Jodie Webster and Fiona Hayes were on hand to unpack the model and they are looking forward to putting Otto to good use!
